Stéphane Dietrich
Born in 1977

Curious about everything, Stéphane Dietrich willingly revels in all kinds of musical attitudes, all repertoires and is inspired by extremely diverse cultural references. His work is striking in its eclectism between academic rigour and unexpected happenings : mass for a cappella mixed choirs, rhapsody for wind orchestra, concerto for electric piano and brass band, motet, gloria for choirs and big band, opera, song albums and diverse arrangements…

In Nancy, he studied at the musicology institute of the university and at the academy of music, where he attended piano and musical writing classes. Meanwhile, through experiences and partnerships, his first creations were born, and they sometimes take radically opposite directions : vocal ensembles, choir leading, arrangements, computer-assisted music, orchestration…Since he obtained his music teacher’s diploma in 2001, he has been developing his career as an independent composer. He has been regularly commissioned to compose musical pieces and asked to take part in several projects. His works have been performed and recorded on several occasions. Trough these experiences, he has built a musical identity based on a wide range of practical expertise and artistic aspirations.
